Inclement Weather Closings

If weather is bad, will the chapel be closed?

In cases of inclement weather causing dangerous driving conditions, the Adoration Committee will determine if the chapel should close using the following general guidelines.

When school is in session:

  • If the start of school at St. Charles is delayed, the chapel will also operate on a delayed schedule; meaning it will immediately close and then re-open at 9:00 am on that same day.
  • If school is cancelled at St. Charles, the chapel will immediately close and remain closed for the remainder of the day.  It will re-open at 9:00 am the following day.

When school is not in session (i.e. in the evenings, late at night, weekends, school breaks, etc.):

  • The Adoration Committee will determine if the chapel should close.
  • If you’re scheduled to adore and have not been notified of a closing but driving conditions seem to have worsened, please contact the Adoration Committee at  812-269-5333 .

If the decision is made to close the chapel, the Adoration Committee will attempt to contact scheduled adorers who are directly affected by the closure. The committee will also send out an All-Adorer and Sub email message with closing information.

If you have questions regarding inclement weather closures, please feel free to contact the adoration coordinator at adoration@stcharlesbloomington.org .
