Special Eucharistic Prayer Vigil

November 30, 2021

On the eve of the Supreme Court landmark pro-life case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, which challenges Roe v. Wade, St. Charles will have Eucharistic Adoration in the main church to encourage as many people as possible to spend time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.

“Adoration to Defeat Abortion” will begin immediately after the 5:30 pm Mass and will continue through 9:00 pm.

Monica Siefker will share some thoughts on this important moment in our fight for the Unborn.  Her comments will be followed by a time of silent adoration.  Special prayers for this cause can be found at:   Prayers to Defeat Abortion

One hour with Jesus

As stated by Pope Benedict XVI in his apostolic exhortation “Sacramentum Caritatis” (The Sacrament of Charity), “Eucharistic adoration is simply the natural consequence of the Eucharistic celebration (mass), which is itself the church’s supreme act of adoration… .’  The Veil Removed video is an illustration of this adoration in the coming together of heaven and earth at Mass, as seen by saints and mystics, revealed by scripture and in the catechism of the Catholic Church. Pope Benedict continues, “The act of adoration outside Mass prolongs and intensifies all that takes place during the liturgical celebration itself.”

To grow closer to our Lord, deepen our faith, and strengthen our community, St. Charles Church in Bloomington, Indiana hosts Eucharistic Adoration from 1 pm Sunday until 8 am Saturday, every week.  We are very blessed to have faithful adorers who volunteer their time on a weekly basis to ensure Jesus is never left alone.  The generosity of our volunteers allows others to visit Jesus in their time of need.

Come to me, all of you who are weary and loaded down with the burdens, and I will give you rest. Matt 11:28.

All are welcome to join in Adoration!  If you feel moved by God’s grace and want to spend time with our Lord in prayer and contemplation, feel free to sign up for one of the open holy hours. Your commitment can be temporary or ongoing, whichever fits your needs. If your schedule doesn’t accommodate any of the following opportunities, the Adoration Committee can arrange for a time that works better for you.  To sign up for Adoration, go to Signup Information or contact the Adoration Committee by sending email to help@OneHourWithJesus.com or calling 812-269-1998.
